Honoring RISE: Leadership, Care, and Community

Reviving the Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment (RISE) works to amplify the voice and power of Muslim women. Their work spans three core program areas: leadership development, storytelling and narrative change, and civic engagement and advocacy.

As Ramadan and Eid have recently concluded, we honor this meaningful season of reflection, generosity, and community. Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate!

We are deeply grateful for RISE’s partnership and proud to celebrate their many accomplishments. In their most recent strategic plan, RISE met every major goal: building a strong internal “dream team,” implementing key infrastructure, and successfully transitioning from their founding executive director to new leadership. We are honored to be partnering with RISE once again as they embark on their second strategic planning process.

One of RISE’s greatest strengths is their responsiveness to community needs. When urgent moments arise, RISE shows up quickly and thoughtfully. In response to recent ICE activity impacting our community, RISE released a clear and accessible Know Your Rights guide for encounters with ICE. The guide is designed for everyone, regardless of immigration status, and can also be shared by citizens and bystanders to help ensure community members know their protections and feel prepared.

RISE also hosted the 2026 Muslim Women’s day at the Capital where they advocated for repealing anti-boycott laws, civil protections against federal agents, the STAR Act, and a bill supporting rental assistance for our most vulnerable communities.

We are grateful for RISE’s leadership, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to collective care.
